How to measure with them

  1. Estimate: hold the object against what you are measuring and count how many card lengths (or quarters, or paper widths) fit end to end. Fractions of a card can be estimated by eye.
  2. Be precise: for measurements finer than a card width, use the object to calibrate an online ruler. Select the object in the calibration panel, align its left edge to the 0 mark, adjust the PPI until the red band matches, and then measure - typically to within about a millimeter.
  3. Verify: for anything important, double-check against a physical ruler or calipers.
